As salaamu alaikum!
On Friday, October 2 we will be having our annual Back to School Night. This is an opportunity for us to welcome you back to school, and to welcome new parents as well. Also, it is an opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher and visit his/her classrooms. You will also have a chance to see the class schedule, learn about the curriculum, and get an idea on how classwork and homework are assigned.
Please keep in mind that this is not the time for parents to discuss the student's progress with his or her teacher. Parent/Teacher conferences will be scheduled toward the end of each semester.
Back to School Night will be held in the basement of the main school.
Kids are welcome. Pizza and babysitting will be provided.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Insha 'Allah everyone is doing well by the grace of Allah SWT. We are very pleased to meet all of our returning and new IST Families. May Allah SWT bless you and your family. Alhumdulillah, it has been a wonderful first week of school for students, staff and parents. We have been able to reconnect with one another, start new relationships and build on our past successes.
One of our primary goals this year is to increase the amount of student discussion, increase the level of rigor in student work, and to ensure that students are using academic vocabulary in their speaking and writing.
I have attached a pdf of Bloom's taxonomy; this is one of the tools we will use to evaluate the level of rigor that students are using. You can also help at home by encouraging your child to speak in complete sentences and use specific wording instead of terms such as, "that thing,"" you know".
Sr. Hobbi and I will be starting our classroom visits over the next few weeks. The theme for September is "Starting the school year right!" We will begin by introducing our important character traits -responsibility, respect, fairness, trustworthiness, caring and citizenship.
We will prepare our students to be
· Committed Balanced Muslims
· Knowledgeable Scholars
· Contributing Citizens
· Community Builders
We feel so fortunate to work with such a dedicated and involved staff and parent community. We want to thank all of the parents who have helped get our year off to a great start. We look forward to catching up with you more as the year continues.
Working together helps to ensure your child's success in school, the community, and life. May Allah SWT bless you and your child with much success in this school year (Ameen). If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Jazakum Allah Khairan,
