Deadlines & Documentation
As a reminder, please note that registration for the 2016-2017 school year is open. The application is available for pick-up at the office, or can be downloaded from the school website here.
If you missed the May 2nd registration deadline, please submit the application as soon as possible. It is essential that we have an accurate count of students enrolled in each grade for the purpose of ordering books, aides, and classroom supplies in a timely manner. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
IST graduation will be held on Friday, June 3rd at the school from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. School will be dismissed early during the day. Please join us as we celebrate and recognize our students' achievements in memorizing the Qur'aan, excelling in academics, and making a positive impact in their classrooms.
Refreshments will be served, inshaAllah.
May 25 - 26 are proposed field days. This is an opportunity for the students to display sportsmanship by taking part in numerous outdoor activities and have inter-grade level competitions.
In preparation for Ramadan at the Masjid, IST will be packing away the classrooms after Memorial Day. Please let us know if you are available to help with this.
Ramadan Schedule and Arts & Crafts Week
Ramadan is likely to fall on the week of June 5th, which is also the last week of school. There will be early dismissal from June 6th - 8th, with June 8th being the last official day of school.
IST will host an Arts & Crafts fair for the students during the last week. If you would like to volunteer for the activities, please contact the office.
Scholastic Book Fair
Alhamdulillah, the Scholastic book fair was a huge success!
JazakumAllah khayr to all volunteers who helped out, and parents for your contribution. The students enjoyed it immensely and are already looking forward to having it next year, inshaAllah :)
Please keep sending us your Box Tops! IST is enrolled in the Box Top for Education program, so every bit helps the school. Each Box Top is worth 10¢, and can be found on the packaging of major food brands and household products. For a list of products participating in the program, please visit this link. JazakumAllahu khayran for your help!
At IST, students in grades 3 and above were tested annually using the Stanford Achievement Test (also known as the Stanford 10). Because this test is undergoing revision and currently unavailable, the administration made an informed decision to delay testing until we have researched available options.
In consultation with local faith-based and non-public schools in Trenton and surrounding districts, we feel confident in using the Terra Nova Common Core, Form 1, standardized test to measure our students' academic standing in Reading, Math, and English Language Arts. We are still reviewing options for Science and Social Studies subjects that are aligned with our curriculum. English language learners will be tested in English proficiency using LAS Links at the beginning of the year, so that we can better serve their academic needs. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this decision, please don't hesitate to contact the administration.
If you need to fulfill any remaining parent duty hours, this is your chance before the school year is over! Please keep in mind that the parent-duty hours help to keep the cost of tuition low, as well as foster the bond between the school and the families we strive to serve. Your contribution is vital to the school's operation. In addition to your time in the events outlined above, we also need help with the tasks below:
Carpet: We need some help having the carpet in the trailer shampooed. It would be preferable to have this done on a weekend so that the carpet can dry while there are no children around.
Furniture: There are some large shelves in the storage area of the trailer that need to be moved around. This would also need to be done on a weekend, inshaAllah.
Library: JazakumAllahu khayran to the parent volunteers for organizing the library in the trailer!
There are a number of activities and events taking place in the surrounding Muslim communities. If you would like to be notified of these events, please consider subscribing to the ICMC newsletter by emailing brother Iffaaz at email@example.com. You can visit the ICMC website for more information.
JazakumAllahu khayran for your continued support and du'aa!
