About Us
Islamic School of Trenton (IST) was established as the I.M.B.I. Day School in September 2001 as a homeschool cooperative by families in the Trenton community with Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten aged children. One grade was added every year as these students moved to the next level. IST has evolved into a non-profit, private elementary school recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education. The school offers a well-balanced education of academics and religious studies, each area aligned to current educational standards.
Our Mission
Our mission is to impart Islamic spiritual training along with excellent academic education in an Islamic environment. We encourage our students to be conscious Muslims who seek to improve themselves for the pleasure of Allah.
With the help of Allah, we strive to prepare our children to become caring role models and cooperative Muslim citizens in their communities to better serve humanity.

Our Goals
- To establish pride in our students through the values and lessons taught in the Qur’an, and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
- To guide our students to reach their full potential. Through an individualized and hands-on educational experience, IST teachers work hard to foster a love for learning so that students are equipped to pursue their interests and skills, and take on the challenges of 21st century learning.
- To enrich our community through an active parent-teacher teamwork. Our families offer very unique perspectives on what to involve the students and community in. In partnership with the school PTA and local organizations, IST partakes in meaningful projects throughout the school year.
